A Blog devoted entirely to news about the University of Kentucky's Men's Basketball Team. Any e-mails and/or advertising inquiries should be sent to ukbasketball23@gmail.com.
I really believe John when he says he might return, but I don't agree with his position. The way he plays injury is always a concern, and an injury could cost him his career. he should go ASAP.
"Could" cost him his career? He could be hit by lightning. But how often does it happen? Close to never.
Remember all the injury trouble Sam Bowie had at UK? Had to sit out a couple of years. Still the #2 pick in the NBA draft. Retired in 1995.
Maybe a torn ACL is Wall's greatest fear. Remember Derek Anderson? His ACL tear kept us from a Three-peat. Drafted #13 that year. Played 11 years.
Kenyon Martin? Broke his leg just before the NCAA Tournament. Ouch. The timing couldn't have been worse. But still the #1 draft pick that year. And still going strong.
The injury bugaboo is a rationalization for players who don't want to be in school and who can't wait for the money. There's just not a lot of merit in it.
These are the best years of John Wall's basketball life. He'll never have so much fun. I believe Mashburn when he says he prizes his time at UK more than anything he did in the pros. The NBA is a job. It's work. Enjoy these years, I say. They don't last long. And the money will still be there for you.
