This is a local sports writers "feel good" article taking the view of Pilgrim's play as "Half full". Another writer could take the "half empty" stance and rightfully so. a non starter after 18 games with a 6.4 PPG avg. and 5.8 Rebs 0n 15.8 min. say fair to midland to most fans. And considering Matt is a 22 year old Junior with a ton of playing time and three stops under his belt who wants to bet the Condo he'll improve a great deal?
Travis seems to confirm Calipari's impression that Pilgrim didn't come ready to play every day. But it does sound like the kid is turning it around and becoming a more consistent force of late, a key to OSU's current success. They're tied for 3d in the very strong Big 12, only a half game behind Texas and 1.5 behind Kansas. That's pretty good company.
Call it "feel good," if you're the sour type, but there is reason for optimism. At least Travis hasn't given up on him. Keep in mind that Pilgrim has been with Travis for only half a season. So don't bet the condo he won't become more consistent.
