The New York Daily News says Rick Pitino has contacted the New Jersey Nets about their coaching vacancy because he's worn down from the Sypher scandal and threatened by Calipari's success

Who are his top recruits, and will they reopen their recruiting now? I would.

Rick's answer is always to run away. He should stay put for once. He's an excellent coach and recruiter and should continue to have lots of success at UofL. Show some stones and get past this Karen Sypher business. If his friends are right about pressure from Calipari's first-year success, that's just sad. He should want both schools to be strong. If for no other reason than to take some of the spotlight off Duke-UNC, which is now annointed the greatest rivalry in all of sports. (They happily use images of bloody faces to promote that, btw. So I don't want to hear about how physical Cousins can be.)

Good call on pointing out the hypocrisy of ESPN highlighting flagrant fouls and bloody faces to promote their Duke/UNC game when they have commentators calling Cuz out for nothing. BS I say....

On Pitino, what does he do now? The Nets appears to have no interest in him and he publicly signals his eagerness to bolt and run to the university, fans and players. Darker days are coming for Rick, all via his own hand.

Pitino now states that none of this NBA Talk has any truth to it and that he is done with the League ... per ESPN.
Surprised??

"The rumors are false. I've had no direct contact with any NBA team. I love it here in Kentucky. My family loves it here."

I think it was two weeks later that he announced he was leaving UK for the NBA.
