Cal will not leave for some time I think, a King does not willfully abdicate his throne.
What could the NBA give him at this point in his career that trumps what he is building at UK?
You couldn't knock him off the throne with twice as much money.....
R U seriously that delusional? He is getting advice from of all people Larry Brown. How many teams did Larry leave behind? He'll be extremely wealthy in the end though.
I'm not naive enough to think it's NOT a possibility but I have to say from what I have seen from Cal in this one year he is a man driven by more than just a dollar. I think his goals are higher than just banking big money. Here at Kentucky everything is in place so he can build a true legacy, I think his ego thirsts for that more than just the padding of an already large bank account. JM2C
Stay tuned
The ONLY thing the NBA has o offer anyone -- be it player or coach -- is money. For most players -- heck, for almost ALL players -- that is a HUGE reason to go. No one can balme anyone kid for taking that NBA money. And, add to that the fact that a players productive window is very small. Out of a 45-year work span -- (age 20 - 65) -- and NBA player has maybe 10 years to make a lifetime of real money.
Not so with a coach.
First, as stated, Cal probably has more money than he can reasonably spend. At some point, legacy becomes more important than dollars. i think Cal is at that point.
Then, consider this. I think just about everyone would agree that Cal's strength as a coach lies in his "Jimmies and Joes" and NOT in his "Xs and Os." The NBA is MUCH more about "Xs and Os."
Cal himself said that the 3 most important things in winning are 1) recruit GREAT talent, 2) recruit GREAT talent and 3) "I hate to tell you, but its recruit GREAT talent." That goes away in the NBA.
Next, look at longevity. Assuming he stays clean, Cal can be at UK as long as he wants to. He essentially controls his own destiny at UK. And, as noted, Philly change scoaches like some folks change dirty underwear.
Lastly, look at the quality of life issue. Lexington or Philly. Duh ... the classic no-brainer.
wow a freakin know it all trying to assuage his fears

No brains … OK now there’s something we can all agree with.
I see Memphis belle is still with us, please stick to your own fan boards. We don't lower ourselves down to your boards and spew unintelligent nonsense, have the same courtesy please.
Not sure who's being referred to as a Memphis fan but I'll say this to further buttress my point. If money is not a factor then why does Larry Brown, who had more money than anyone could need for 2 lifetimes before he left his last 5jobs, is apparently about to change jobs yet again. It's not a given that Cal will leave or they have even discussed this. My response was don't be too sure he won't sooner than expected. Since someone brought up Memphis (I don't know what they have to do with this) but what could he accomplish at UK that he couldn't at Memphis. He was a 3-point shot away from the NC at Memphis. Yes UK is more high profile than Memphis but a NC at Butler, Siena, Gonzaga, etc. is still a NC period. UK is more of a challenge to Cal, not the money. So all money aside, after elevating UK the only thing more of a challenge would be the NBA. Now the question or unknown variable is, will he wait to win a NC at UK first because at some point he will. He is good at what he is doing.
yea, shaddup Memphis wad.
my thoughts are that Cal will be around for a championship or 2.
Ill say 6-8 years.
sorry---theres too many "anonymous' on here!...the bitter Memphis fan is always the one spewing nonsense.
Icky,did you fart?
