Daniel Orton says if he had done it differently he would have gone to Kansas, but with the way things have worked out, he wouldn't have done anything differently

I sent this link to Aaron this morning. I was a little surprised at Orton's comments but with everything else he has said and done since the final game I'm not really shocked. I wish him the best but he really has burned some bridges with the UK fans on his way out.
It really has been hard to continue to support him...i hope he does well simply because i wouldn't wish harm for anyone, but he is not a cat that i'll remember favorably
When you link all these quips Orton has let out the last few months and the on/off court behavior that we observed during the latter part of the year it makes one think perhaps his attitude may have been the underlying reason he didn't perhaps see more on court time.
I understand that he didn't get much playing time last year. But, does he really belive that he would have played more at KU. I think he should keep his mouth shut and be happy someone will pay him millions to play his best position, to the right the assistant coach!
I really liked DO at mid season. But there was far far better talent at his position. He'll be a millionaire soon, but we are talking about a guy who didn't play his senior year in high school, and averaged 3-3-3 (points, rebounds, and goal tends) in college.
He would have gotten half the minutes at Kansas, so he would have had 1.5-1.5-1.5 on his stat sheet.
Keep burning bridges DO; see how that works out for you.
Maybe all of you read this in a different light than did I. The way I read the article (trying to be objective after the 7 comments), Orton expressed -- when asked -- that he would have liked to have had more playing time. He then expressed -- when asked -- what he might have done differently, ane he mentioned KS as a consideration.
On the elite teams, unless you are one of the top 5 players, that would be a sentiment I would expect from an intensely competitive, great player.
I saw nothing negative in this article about Orton.
Abe Lincoln said: "If you look for the bad in someone, expecting to find it, you surely will."
The flip side of that is equally true: Look for the GOOD in Orton. When Cousins got into foul and/or attitude trouble, Orton was our "go to" guy, and all of us who are UK supporters owe him a TON for what he did for UK basketball this past season.
Kentucky fans are the most selfish and hateful fans in America, in any sport. Pathetic people! He was 2nd string player...good god. Kentucky is what is essence of what is wrong with basketball today. Shitting on the sport.
I think the frustration from KY fans comes from the string of comments made in the last couple of months from Orton and Orton's father. If you look at only one of the comments, then it can easily be excused, but when you take a look at the list of comments and DO's overall demeanor, it is hard to be pleased. He has made several comments that could easily be viewed as negative towards the school, the coaching staff, and his other teammates. In fairness to him, he has said some good things about the above mentioned things as well. Nevertheless, the comments and the fact that he didn't even finish his classes doesn't put him in the good graces of many UK fans.
As for the anon idiot, we are hateful and pathetic but you come to this blog to continue to cuss and bash us? Lol. Can you say oxymoron?
I'm not sure how the most elite and esteemed program in college basketball history is "shitting" (your words not mine) on the sport. Kentucky fans love the game, all aspects, including player relations
This all stems from his pent up frustration with playing at UK. He was told by Billy clyde he was going to be the man at UK, start from day one, be the go to player etc... Then along comes Cal and tells him he is coming off the bench. I would be frustrated too. Add to this the fact that a bunch of fans have been criticizing him for jumping to the NBA "too early" and you are bound to get some negative comments.
If you don't like UK and only troll message boards leaving negative comments in a pathetic effort to validate yourself and your team (although we will never know who that is since every negative comment is always from an anonymous poster), then just get a life. Every day we have to see some jealous blowhard rant about how bad UK fans are. The hilarious part is you are only making yourself look like a hypocrite. So just save us the trouble of wasting our time reading your anti UK/Calipari garbage and stick to your own blogs. Nobody here cares about what you have to say.
Well said Nate and Alan. Orton was going to be released from his LOI by Cal IF he wanted to so I don't subscribe to the "Orton was recruited over" and had to ride the pine theme.
I feel along the lines of Nate's thoughts but still wish him well, he is still a kid and we all forget that sometimes.
PPL like myself "troll" this board just for kicks at how hypocritical and irrational most of you can get over this stuff. For instance how everyday you defend a slimy coach who repays you by leveraging the NBA against your storied history and tradition. He has so far conquered your AD after only one year on the job. Finally you have an anonymous poster leave a TWO PARAGRAPH rant ended with "Nobody here cares about what you have to say." You guys are really a treat to us all.
My reaction was a bit like Alan's. Orton said he wouldn't have done anything differently. That's the bottom line. He still would have gone to UK. But if he had done things differently, if he had not gone to UK, he would have gone to KU.
That's all. I don't see where he's dissing Kentucky. And surely he would still have been coming off the bench with Aldrich and the Morris twins dominating the front line at KU.
Let's not make this into more than it is. Too bad he didn't stay. He'd be starting next year (assuming he wasn't one of the two players below the 1.8 GPA).
Tony, I don't understand. How are we bothering you again? If you don't like someone, why hang out with them? Why even approach them? They've got nothing to do with you. Nothing they say has anything to do with you. Not in the least. You are completely off their radar.
And yet, here you are injecting yourself and mixing it up. Why the aggressive behavior?
Tony takes pleasure in insulting and harassing other people. Indeed, he goes out of his way to do it. The Germans call it schadenfreude. A fancy word for a special kind of socially dysfunctional behavior.
He's looking for attention. Looking for someone to interact with. The guy has self-esteem issues. He's not happy, and he's probably lonely. Maybe his life isn't working out the way he had hoped.
I think he needs to meet a woman or find a hobby. A more constructive way to spend his time. Certainly he cannot hope to convince the hypcritical and the irrational. He should accept that as a lost cause and move on.

Selfish defined.
Yes, the BBN just needs to move on from this subject.

Just speculating.
Considering the attitude of the guy who was taking his playing time I find it hard to believe his attitude was what kept him from more court time.
There was just better talent at his position.

Just another perspective here.

Is anything more COWARDLY than posting a negative comment about some other program anonymously?
Like as if everybody here isn't anonymous.
Thanks Alan for your responsible comments. Like Abe you are a wise man.

Hey Tony, quite frankly if Mitch Blowhard was run out of town it wouldn't garner too many tears from the BBN.
My reaction was a bit like Alan's. Orton said he wouldn't have done anything differently. That's the bottom line. He still would have gone to UK. But if he had done things differently, if he had not gone to UK, he would have gone to KU.

WuSsTony says: "For instance how everyday you defend a slimy coach who repays you by leveraging the NBA against your storied history and tradition"
" bravo WussTony! fresh, gripping, suspenseful"

Fellas - our dear Tony is just another incarnation of "Anonymouse in Memphis".
Good grief why give the idiot any recognition?

But he won't. That's part of the sickness.
