About a week ago the NBA on TNT was saying, "Kentucky is a Great Place but its not the NBA."
That's right it isn't ... in some ways its BETTER! Here are the facts, not opinion:

Top 5 Attendance Holders last year:
1. Kentucky 24,111 (cap. 23,000)
2. Syracuse 22,152 (34,616)
3. Louisville 19,397 (18,865)
4. Tennessee 19,168 (21,000)
5. North Carolina 17,786 (21,750)
"Kentucky would have also led the NBA in attendance this season, averaging over 3300 more people per game than the first-place Chicago Bulls."

Glenrider... It is a great accomplishment for Kentucky.
But the United Center seating capacity is smaller than Kentuckys.
That accounts for a portion of the difference.
Still.. a great accomplishment for KY

I'm aware of that.
As I'm aware that Syracuse has a greater cap ... should their fans really fill that place there is no way we could keep up with them.
Chicago is the top NBA example of sustained attendance.

Pro and College is really 'Apples' and 'Oranges' anyway Easy Does It. Can't really compare them ... just a tidbit for thought.

UK is missing the boat if they do not build at least a new arena approaching 30,000 capacity.

At least 30,000 to qualify for hosting a NCAA Regional (Is that correct anyone?)
Plus add the money-making "Luxury Boxes" and the new arena would be huge.

Louisville's KFC Yum Center holds 22,000 and will allow UK to play there [when they host] during the NCAA's 1st & 2nd round.

Bigger aint better. I dont see them building a bigger place.
Rupp is historic. You dont mess with history...and for what--more money?
Besides have you seen how much green they roll in from those seats?
no way. Syracuse can take over for all i care. We have the best place ever with Rupp Arena. Yall go to a 30K seat dome and let me know how it is. i see how it is on tv and it sucKs.

eeky, I disagree....

Bigger and better are not mutually exclusive. We could have a new Rupp of the same shape/layout and moderate increase in size no problem. It would allow more new fans to get a shot at tickets, suite's would be a nice addition with an all around upgrade in amenities as well. You want to be THE flagship basketball University you must have the nicest facilities. Makes a huge difference with young recruits. Also would love to see students at least at both ends of the court and preferably all around the lower level. Not likely to happen but sure would be nice. 30,000 fans, very lower surrounded by crazy young fans, be a nightmare for opposing teams, even more than it is now...

So which of you are going to put up some money to exoand? Hmm?

Oh yeah this is just your fantasy where someone else pays for it. I get it now.

I'll be glad to put up the money to get a hold of tickets in the new seats that would be available....

as would many others...
