We've used 11 scholarships for 2010. That leaves us two, which we've already used on Gilchrist and Teague in 2011. Harrellson will open up another when he graduates. So Cal has one scholarship to use for Quincy Miller or Ryan Rhoomes or Austin Rivers or whomever. If he signs only one more player in 2010 or 2011, it means the entire 2010 recruiting class can return for a second year. Perchance to dream! (picking up on Glenrider's Shakespeare thang)
But here's the rub: If Cal signs more than one player, either for 2010 or 2011, someone's gotta go. Or pay their own way.
Conclusion: If you want to gauge how many one and dones Cal anticipates from the 2010 recruiting class, count how many more players he signs and subtract one.
Good points both. But the dangers appear only when you overrecruit. If Cal signs just one more player, the lockout doesn't matter, and no one has to be "run off." (BTW, does Cal always do that? I'm not familiar enough to know.)
predictions after next season: Harrellson will finally graduate, and Dodson will leave to play ball in Europe. Kanter, Knight and Jones to NBA.(but i hope the big men stay 2 yrs!)

Plus, what of the possibility the NBA indeed goes into "Lockout" Mode next year?
Or Cal can do like he always does and simply run off or not renew someone's scholly like bench players 8-11.
