Calipari stuck with his contention last week’s NBA Draft marked the greatest day in UK basketball history

Of course he stuck with his contention, after all, if it doesn't involve him, then it can't be referred to as the greatest moment in Kentucky basketball.

Tipton Alert!

Thanks for the "Alert"!

I was a little surprised at Cal's comment myself.

Calipari has become BIGGER than the university, the history and the BBN. No other coach in their right mind has been this obvious and successful at doing so. The AD is already a non-factor like everywhere else Cal has been. The Bledsoe case may render S. Bell as overrated and the President of the university has also voiced some concerns over some of these issues (GPA).

This was all accomplished at a storied program in just one year at the helm. You guys have now thrown current and ex-players under the bus all while he's hanging the NBA and your past 10 years over your head. I now believe he can take a dump at center court (Rupp Arena) and some of you will defend it or spin it.

These developments are sad but very interesting to watch, especially from afar.

Wow, Tony, you really don't like this guy, do you? What's your beef (basically)?

I don't hear any UK fans or alums defending or "spinning" Cal's statement. Eveyone I know or have read about disagrees with it. Of course we'd rather have a national championship than a good draft night. Jesus, it's not even up for debate.

The only spin I've heard on this is from a sportswriter who says Cal isn't talking to UK fans or UK alums. He's talking to high school recruits. And he's saying exactly what they want to hear.

It's a good point. Cal's a master salesman. But as a UK fan, I remain somewhat concerned with the thought that maybe he really doesn't value a national championship over a No. 29 pick in the first round of the draft.

Tony has been pushing his act on this UK blog site for some time now. If you've read one, you've read 'em all. Calipari is the Anti-Christ, and he's going to drag UK down to the depths of Hell just like he did every other school he's touched. Sold your souls, etc. etc. etc. You know the routine.

tony is another admitted UK hater who somehow pays close attention to every one of Cals moves- even before UK.
I sense a man crush.

That's as may be, Anon, but I was asking Tony. I don't know his story. Is he a sour UK fan? He sounds like someone very familiar with UK (Sandy Bell, "BBN," statements from the university president). Is he someone who wanted Travis Ford as coach? Is he one of those Louisville fans who loves to visit UK sites to stir trouble? But he says he's from afar. So I'm curious. Some of the things he said don't make sense to me, like throwing current players under the bus. So at the risk of inviting an even lengthier attack on Calipari, I'd like to hear Tony speak for himself.

Tony is another incarnation of Anonymouse in Memphis. Just ignore the idiot. Why continue to give him audience? He has no other motive for being on this Kentucky blog except to inflame Kentucky fans. He comes here because he is or has been banned at every other UK blog or message board after a few posts. You guys go for his bait every time.

Good grief.

Dom,
First, I appreciate your candor and civility. I've watched Cal's act towards the end of his UMASS days, in Jersey (Nets) and in Memphis. The Nets had the hammer and fired him but in all instances he left behind a trail of carnage. It was my belief that no way he could pull this off at a nationally accomplished and "storied program" like UK.

Boy was I wrong. In one year he has run off academically-eligible student athletes who dreamed to wear the UK Blue. All for one & done millionares who could care less. The AD now has little to no say-so over the BB program. He has told the BBN "you are not as smart as you think you are," "This is now a players first program," the draft night quote and a few others. You guys are either falling on the sword for the 30-win seasons and maybe "back into a championship or two" or have been bullying us all for decades.

I have never uttered one negative comment about the University of Kentucky. As I am one of the Old Guards, who enjoy the friendly (and bitter) rivalries of college athletics. However, I will now simply yield to that old street saying, Don't Hate Da Playa (Cal), Hate Da Game (NCAA).

The University of Kentucky as a whole and the contigent of BBN fans that spin everything are not one and the same. But if that makes you fell better so be it.

But as I said before ..... I will now simply yield to that old street saying, Don't Hate Da Playa (Cal), Hate Da Game (NCAA).
