A Blog devoted entirely to news about the University of Kentucky's Men's Basketball Team. Any e-mails and/or advertising inquiries should be sent to ukbasketball23@gmail.com.
On another front, Dan Wiederer of The Fayettesville Observer wrote a couple of days ago that four elite college basketball programs remain in the running for Austin Rivers. Kentucky was not among them. I wrote to Dan, and here's what he says:
"Austin's high school coach in Orlando told me last week that there were four schools left in the mix. I believe Austin may still take an official visit to Kentucky. But no one in the know seems to think that visit would be anything more than just a visit. The Wildcats are not expected to figure in Rivers' final decision from everything I know."
For what it's worth. I've parsed the statements to find some reason for hope, but that's not a productive game. We'll just have to wait and see.
Nicely done WG.. I think the fact that there is NOT a definitive "no UK" is positive sign. He has plenty of time to make a decision and with his dad's guidance is going to make a well educated commitment. I think that in itself puts Kentucky at the top of the list.
That's what struck me, Marc. And why make an official visit to a school you've already decided is out of the running?
Austin's considering the cream of the crop here - UK, KU, UNC, Duke (no offense UF) - so my goodness, he can hardly make a wrong decision. But I think most would agree that if he's looking to head off to the NBA after one year, one of those schools comes immediately to mind.
But it's just tea leaves. We read them the way we want.
