I just can't beleive it has to take this long the NCAA should have the facts by now they need to make a decession oct 15 is almost here
2. The Febernache club owner sure is going out of his way to prove a player who in his own words is worthless to them. Kind of makes you think why he would go through all this if he didn't have anything to gain.
3. Enes is less of a professional than some other players currently playing in the NCAA. Take for example Deniz Kilicli from WV.
You gotta give it to the GM: he sure sounds confident. Directly contradicts Dr. Kanter, says it was the father himself who negotiated the terms of Enes' salary.
Somebody's lying through his teeth. That much is clear.
If Solomon were deciding this tug of war, he might guess that it was the father, not the businessman, who was looking after the best interests of the child. And maybe that kind of justice is fitting here.
Hard to say in this case. I think the Turkish league has more to loose if they start hemorrhaging their best player/prospects to the US without the usual benefit of the financial reward that comes from signing these kids early in their careers like they have in the past. No offense to the Kanters but if you have ever dealt with the area you know lying and circle speak are a way of life over there. I'd say the proof is in the financial statements and records.
I hope he is eligible cause he is the difference maker in a good team and a contender.
So Marc, what is the extent of your personal experience of dealing with the "area you know lying and circle speak are a way of life over there"? Are you naive enough to think that coaches and agents and players don't lie over here. It is a way of life over here. But I digress, please proceed to tell us the extent of your experience.
Why don't you tell us your experience anonymous! It's Turkey! Get off your high horse, read the article, and you decide if this sounds like a team/owner with their own priorities. Keep in mind that the artiticle uses misquotes and insinuates a college kid "isn't academic." Very professional!
I did read the article and agree with you for the most part. However Marc has relegated a whole nation and its people as liars and cheaters. If true then Kanter cant be believed either. I like WG's comment but Marc's comments are the words of a bigot.
I told you over and over, you are just too closely and too emotionally invested in the UK program to be objective. Not a bad quality to be loyal but try stepping back sometimes and re-read some of your positions and you'll see why you should leave it up to WG and others and just cheer from the sideline. I'm sure by now you have enough UK-cred.
Hey Anonymous, glad you could chime in here with your opinion about my "bigotry", we welcome all posers and haters so you're right at home.
Perhaps I should have included some qualifier to point out that I do not think EVERY Turk is a lier when I made the above comment. It didn't occur to me that I would have some sanctimonious ass throw the bigot card, my bad. But I do stand behind my thought on the matter and see no reason not to. Maybe it's PC if I said ONLY the GM is a lying, would that make you feel better? Here is a bit from a KSR post today on the Thamel story.
KSR Quote: “Karakas said the club was wealthy enough that it did not need the fee, which European basketball observers estimated at less than $500,000. Karakas said the club has an annual income of $275 million and is building a sports center in Istanbul that will cost more than $300 million.” $275 million. $275 million. Remember that number. Because a quick google search will tell you that the NBA grossed a combined $3.5 billion in 09-10, which comes to about $117 million per team on average. The LA Lakers, likely the highest grossing team in the league, had revenues of $190 million (per Forbes). So we are supposed to believe that some 3rd world country basketball team makes over 2.5x the average NBA team revenue and almost 50% more than the freaking LA Lakers? Really? Did Pete even THINK about what an exaggeration the GM was telling him? Actually, that goes beyond exaggeration, the GM was flat out lying about their income. Yet, once again, Pete does zero diligence on his subjects, simply taking them at their word - as long as what they say is bad for Calipari."
What do you think, any relevance?
Tony, your comments concerning me are pointless and generally have nothing to do with the discussion other than an attempt to discredit me or peg me for a UK homer. Your shtick is getting old buddy. Now if labeling and despising "dumb asses" like you two makes me a bigot, well... I would wear that badge proudly..
Where in my "shtick" have I ever called you anything other than Marc or yes a UK homer. As I said there is nothing wrong with supporting your school or team but your homerism shows in your comments. Now if this anonymous guy has you that hot under the collar please refer your "dumb asses" quotes to him.
As for Kanter vs the GM...it'll all come out in the rinse. It always does.
OK, perhaps a little aggressive with labeling you a DA, for that I apologize.
However, I do take exception to the fact that you find it necessary to marginalize anything I post to "cheerleader" banter. I don't agree and feel you just need to label me that because I take you to task on every one of you Cal bashing posts.
If I have a shtick it is with Cal, not UK or any person that loves UK. I have been out front and clear about that. Here are 2 things you probably wouldn't believe. I live on the East coast and get taken to task almost daily because I make no bones about the SEC being the best conference in the land, football, basketball, baseball whatever. (Fighting words in Big East Country). So I hope UK does well to help buttress my point. Also, no matter who I root for, I have never seen a better basketball team than the '96 Kentucky team. (I'll wait until you get off the floor). I can go on for days talking about Tony Delk and that crew. As much as I despise Cal, I have no problems respecting the tradition of schools that have contributed to the historical significance and pageantry of college athletics.
Why despise Cal? He has 0 violations and does a lot of charity work. Why hate on a humanitarian? People hate on him cuz he wins and wasnt supposed to at schools like UMass and Memphis.
its funny how you geeks on this site think you have to prove to everyone who comes on here to talk trash that we have the best program. the team does that on its own.

Hey!!! You and I agree on something!!!!
I too feel the 96 team was arguably the best college team to win the title.
You do need to come out though, fess up...who is your college team?
