"Kanter sits out Dribble-Drive demonstration
October 6th, 2010 |
Freshman big man Enes Kanter sat out the quasi-practice part of a clinic for female fans staged by Kentucky Coach John Calipari Wednesday night.
Why? Because Kanter is ineligible to participate in practice while the NCAA’s Eligibility Center decides whether he can play this coming season.
The NCAA permits such players to practice for 45 days as it addresses eligibility questions. Kanter’s clock began in early August when Kentucky prepared for its exhibition series in Canada.
UK got a waiver which enabled Kanter to practice through the end of September. UK can get another waiver, which might free Kanter to play at Big Blue Madness on Oct. 15.
Spokesman DeWayne Peevy said UK could neither confirm nor deny seeking another waiver for Kanter.
During the practice part of the clinic, Calipari had the players walk through spacing for the Dribble-Drive."
