Luxury boxes should not be assumed to be a dominant part of either a renovation of Rupp Arena or the construction of a new arena in downtown Lexington

Anybody that thinks there will not be any "Luxury Boxes" if a new arena is built have their head in the sand....

The article is suggesting that the number and type of non traditional seating will likely not be the old fashioned combination of 22,000 seats and 90 boxes (or so), but a new cocktail of traditional and open club seating. I have seen arenas that have club seating and it is really cool - especially if the seats are made available to the common Joe. These new approaches are what can make our new arena make YUM YUM look like yesterday's news. I say go for it and forget the old fashioned private boxes for the privileged - simply add a third tier of even more expensive open club seats with dinner and service available for everybody at the ticket tron. They will sell like hot cakes. Even old ladies will like going to the game because they can sit away from the crowd and talk about their knitting or watch TV.
