While a number of NCAA bylaws directly spell out how Calipari's contact was impermissible, the most direct explanation of his rule violation comes in bylaw 13.02.4.
Peevy told Prep Rally via email. "Our men's basketball staff is very knowledgeable in regards to NCAA rules and regulations..."
Therefore he knew he was violating a rather minor rule. But the fact is you hypocrites are looking the other way, as always, when the shoe (coach K) is on the other foot. smh
I thought Coach K's screwup was nothing and feel this is even less than nothing. Can't compare the two really though considering K's was an offer of scholarship to someone you were recruiting and the other was a "good game" comment to a 16 year old kid that is not being recruited. Apples and oranges but both BS.
There is a big difference between what Coach K and Cal both did. Coach K contacted a recruit during the no contact to extend a scholarship offer. Cal congratulated a player he will never recruit on having a good game and holding his own. What Coach K did can be looked at as gaining an advantage with a recruit. A handshake and good game does nothing when Cal isnt recruiting the game. You're an idiot. Get some facts right before you look dumb. Because from what I gather, if you're not recruiting the player it doesnt matter. At least thats what a sports reporter here said the NCAA has told him in the past. Regardless, big difference between Cal and Coach K.
