Rick Bozich of the Louisville Courier-Journal says Calipari has a king-sized case of Rick Pitino Envy
Marc, I'm trying very hard to leave it alone but this article is Spot On!!! I've been telling you for a while now, when it doesn't happen again this year with a ton of NBA talent, these types of articles will not seem so ludicrous.
Tony, It is so easy to predict that a team won't win a championship. Even the best couple teams only have like a 15% chance of winning it.
Put me in the group that says you don't have to win a championship to really enjoy a year of basketball. Love to have #8, but I'll take fun basketball games with friends, beer, chicken wings, etc.
Lastly, what would Cal or UK have to envy about UL and its coach? I'll give you that the Yum center is a nice place, but that is all overshadowed by the poor life decisions of the coach. I wouldn't want him over for a dinner party, much less representing my college.
Agreed, Very nicely written and well taken. Unfortumnately your view and perception of college basketball is not the norm.
If having a great season and enjoying BB will satisfy you then UK is in a great position as long as Cal is there. But when you have the best players and (arguably) the best program and cannot defy the %15 odds, at some point he (not UK) will remain the butt of jokes and his coaching ability forever questioned.
Cal took a team last year no one expected to be that great and go them to the final four. They were one bad shooting game way from the championship game. What did Pitino do? That's right, got beat out by Morehead State!! No one is jealous of Pitino. If anything, it's the other way around. Pitino wishes he were still at UK, he cant stand that Cal is, he cant stand he lost Teague to us, he cant stand he has player commit then decommit, top recruits who turn out ineligible. On the other hand, Cal is reeling them in and making this team a championship competitor every year, unlike Pitino. Pitino regrets his decision to leave UK everyday. No one is jealous or envious. This year, Cal has star players and veterans, somethin we didnt have 2 years ago. UK will be back in the final four and Pitino will be sittin in a tv studio watchin us do it all over again.
The UofL coach let one head over rule the other head and was two blinks and an eyelash from not being a coach at all. Just exactly what part of Patino's life does Calipari have to envy? I'll answer that for you...NONE OF IT!

KSR is going to have a field day with this one.
As bad as the Lex Herald Leader is in being anti-UK, the LCJ is the opposite in it's vigorous homer position with the Tards...
I wouldn't wipe my ass with either one...
